Tanti’s Greek Lessons is shaped by stories gathered while learning Greek — moments, encounters, and small life notes collected along the way.

This one begins with a little girl in the drawing.

The figure is inspired by Esma Ekiz’s painting “The Woman in the Purple Dress.” Born in Giresun, a mother of seven, Esma Ekiz began painting after retiring from a tobacco factory. Using the leftover pastels and watercolors of her sons, she first painted quietly, almost secretly — and then, without stopping.

Until the end of her life, she kept painting nature, animals, children and adults she observed around her. A self-taught, instinctive artist whose work grew outside the formal art world, Esma Ekiz is remembered here with love.

Tanti creates in a similar way — from a feeling that overflows from within. Without formal art training, but with a lifelong urge to make things with her hands.

Sometimes her mind gets tangled. Just like her hair — wavy, full, and hard to control.

And when that confusion is allowed to pass through, what remains,
what slowly appears,
turns out to be beautiful.

This piece is part of “Tanti’s Greek Lessons”, a collection inspired by learning Greek and the small stories gathered along the way.

Available in three options — Big, Mini, or Big & Mini — each scarf features the same story, expressed through different sizes and, in some options, different languages.

The Big scarf (90 × 90 cm) features the original Greek sentence in its full size.

The Mini scarf (45 × 45 cm) offers the same Greek sentence in a smaller, more intimate size, meant to stay with you throughout the day — worn as a bandana, tied around the wrist or neck, wrapped around a bag, or framed as a small poetic artwork.

In the Big & Mini option, the story is shared in two languages and two sizes: Greek in the larger scarf, and its Turkish counterpart in the smaller one — one learned in the mind, the other felt in the heart.

All scarves are 100% silk.
